John Dakota Whitehawk wants to end his own life but someone else, a man named Drake Blackwell, has other plans for him. By interfering this man sends them both on an adventure they never imagined.
They end up in an experimental society where the structure of the government is to let its population be peaceful and productive and leave cruelty and hate behind.
Hawk faces new challenges and meets an intriguing woman, Dr. Mia Clark. They set out together on a rescue mission but are met by various unscrupulous individuals trying to prevent them from succeeding. They travel through rough landscapes, a city center and underground tunnels trying to find Dr. Mia’s kidnapped niece.
Eventually as Dr. Mia and Hawk get close to success Blackwell catches up with them and tries to complete his original plan.
Colony of the Dead is a story that inspires hope—not through the pursuit of perfection, but through its belief in humanity’s ability to grow and learn from mistakes. Center to the story is the protagonist, Hawk, a man burdened by despair who discovers a better way of living, both within himself and through the new world he encounters.
